TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO-WAWV) — UPDATE: According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, all lanes of U.S. Highway 41 are now back open. The sheriff’s office stated that crews will continue to work on the shoulder of the roadway and to use caution.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a gas leak has taken place in Vigo County.
The following is a news release from the VCSO at approximately 7:45 pm:
We are currently assisting with a major gas leak in the area just north of Springhill Rd on U.S. Hwy 41. All southbound lanes will be closed for an unknown amount of time, please avoid the area.

Our videographer near the scene noted a lot of activity around Fuson Automotive and that the scent of gas was in the air. WTWO will update the story as more information becomes available.
