TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Early Friday morning, the Terre Haute Fire Department (THFD) responded to a commercial structure fire at the 7th Day Assembly Church on Wheeler Ave.
According to THFD Captain Nick, when crews arrived at the church at 1:55 a.m. smoke and fire were visible from the structure. After making an aggressive attack to put out the fire, it then progressed to the point where the incident commander pulled crews out of the structure because of deteriorating conditions.
Captain Arnold said crews then battled the fire from the outside of the structure. The blaze was eventually extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been notified per federal law. Arnold said the bureau is contacted any time a church catches on fire.
