VALLONIA, Ind. — The Indiana Dept. of Corrections successfully tracked down an inmate who reportedly walked away from his work crew in Jackson County.
Michael Anderson, 21, is currently serving a three-year DOC sentence after being convicted on two counts of burglary in Lake County. IDOC said Anderson walked away from his work crew in Vallonia around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers with the Salem Police Department found Anderson while conducting a traffic stop shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday. IDOC said Anderson attempted to run away on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
The case remains under investigation. IDOC noted that Anderson could face additional charges of escape, resisting law enforcement and theft.
