VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vermillion County is holding two public meeting discussing vote centers for the county.
Officials say this has been discussed for many years, and since this is not an election year, they thought this was the right time to take action.
Chair of the Vermillion County Election Board William Rennels says that this move could save taxpayers thousands of dollars.
“If we consolidate, we expect to eliminate 7 voting locations and staffing requirements which would the taxpayers an excess of $14,000,” said Rennels.
The first meeting will take place on April 8 at 6 p.m. at the Vermillion County Courthouse Commissioners Courtroom.
