INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute) honored Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (THSO) artistic director and conductor Dr. David Bowden on the Senate floor Monday.
Senate Resolution 42 recognizes Dr. Bowden for his decades of conducting orchestras throughout Indiana as he will be retiring from THSO on June 20, 2025, after 28 years with the orchestra.

Dr. Bowden has been a part of THSO since 1997 and also served as the music director for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra from 1999 until 2016. Dr. Bowden also founded the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic in 1987 and served as its music director and conductor until 2022.
“Dr. Bowden’s passion for music has led to continued growth of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra over his three decades of leadership,” Goode said. “His impact on the orchestra will continue for years into the future, and I’d like to thank him for everything he’s done for the local orchestra and our community. He has touched countless people through music and his incredible leadership.”
