VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — No injuries were reported following a train vs. vehicle crash late Saturday night in Vigo County.
It happened at the tracks on Mill Dam Road.
Police say the driver of the vehicle left the roadway while crossing the tracks, driving down the tracks for a short time before coming to a stop.
A conductor in an approaching train saw the vehicle and applied the emergency break but it was too late to avoid crashing. The train was able to slow to about 15 mph before hitting the vehicle.
Police say everyone made it out of the vehicle before the train hit it. No one was hurt.
Police do not suspect drugs, or alcohol played a role in the accident.
