VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An early morning traffic stop in Vigo County led to police allegedly recovering over 130 grams of methamphetamine, 22 grams of THC gummies and a handgun from inside the vehicle.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, while on patrol in the early morning hours of March 10, a deputy with the department made a traffic stop near U.S. 41 and Allendale.
The vehicle was occupied by two individuals identified as Monique Peach, 38, Vincennes, and Brian Riker, 53, Plainfield, said VCSO.
After an initial investigation, the deputy requested K9 assistance to perform a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 alerted officers of a positive indication, leading to the vehicle being searched. Inside the vehicle, officers allegedly found 131 grams of methamphetamine, 22 grams of THC gummies, $11,220 in cash and one handgun along with ammunition.
Peach, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with unlawful carry of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a schedule one controlled substance.
Riker was charged with dealing in methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
