TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Indiana State Police have identified a woman who was found dead Thursday morning in Terre Haute.
They added that the death of Melissa Kernstein, 57, of Terre Haute, remains under investigation. Kernstein’s body was found at about 10:20 a.m. in northern Terre Haute near Tuttle Drive. A bystander walking their dog spotted Kernstein lying near a creek bed, officials added in a news release.
“The Indiana State Police assures that there is no threat to the public,” the agency wrote in a news release. “This is an active investigation. There is no further information to be released at this time.”
Officials added that this is a death investigation and not a homicide investigation.
