(KTLA) – Taco Bell announced a slate of new menu items and plans for the fast food chain at its second annual Live Mas event, which took place in New York City on Tuesday.
The new additions cover drinks, desserts and new takes on tacos.
Here are some of the new menu items Taco Bell fans can expect in 2025.
- Mountain Dew Baja Midnight: The sugary Baja Blast drink gets a touch of tartness with the addition of passionfruit flavor.
- Milk Bar Birthday Cake Churros: Speaking of sweet, Taco Bell is collaborating with New York City-based bakery Milk Bar to create churros filled with birthday cake frosting. This collaboration will be for a limited time, it seems, as Taco Bell says it will be available “while supplies last.”
- Quesocrisp Taco: This new menu item is pretty much what it sounds like: a taco with a shell made of crispy cheese.
- Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupa: This one is a spin on an existing menu item (the Cheesy Street Chalupa). Like the Quesocrisp taco, it will also have cheese baked into the shell and crispy cheese on the outside.
- Decades menu: Taco Bell says it has seen success “bringing back nostalgic fan favorites,” so it will do it again in 2025. This year, the company plans to bring back Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos and the Double Decker Taco.
- Grilled Cheese Burrito with shredded beef: This is a minor tweak to an existing menu item by adding shredded beef to the Grilled Cheese Burrito.
- Flamin’ Hot Burrito: This burrito, on the other hand, is all new. It has Flamin’ Hot Fritos and spicy rice wrapped inside a tortilla with nacho cheese sauce and beef.
- Rolled Poblano Quesadilla: This one adds poblano peppers, plus your meat of choice, into a quesadilla.
- Crispy Chicken: Crispy Chicken Nuggets were added to menus last year, and now the crispy meat option will be available in burritos and tacos.
- Mike’s Hot Honey Diablo Sauce: Another collaboration is planned with Mike’s Hot Honey to create a new sauce you should see available later in 2025. Taco Bell says it will pair with the Crispy Chicken Nuggets.
- Caliente Cantina Chicken Menu (available now): A new Caliente Sauce, made with red jalapeños, is a limited-time addition.
- Steak and Queso Crunchwrap Sliders (available now): These sliders include grilled steak, chipotle sauce, pico de gallo salsa and cheese wrapped and grilled in a tortilla.
Taco Bell also gave a sneak peek at some potential menu items it’s working on in the company’s test kitchens. These sauces and snacks aren’t a guarantee to make it to a drive-thru near you, but they could roll out later if testing goes well.
- Three sauces: The chain is trying out three new sauces: Weak Knees Fire (a hot sauce incorporating gochujang sriracha), Zab’s Hot Ranch (a new type of spicy ranch), and Purple Chile Sauce (which uses three peppers).
- Crispy Fajitas: This vegetarian dish has battered and fried peppers and onions.
- Mexican Pizza Empanada: The fan-favorite Mexican Pizza could be transformed into an empanada, a type of baked or fried turnover.
- Mini Taco Salad: This is a miniature version of the taco salad that was on Taco Bell’s menus until 2017.
- Poutine Fries: A Canadian classic could be coming to Taco Bell menus. Poutine is fries topped with meat, gravy, and cheese curds.
Taco Bell is also testing new takes on taquitos, burritos, and tacos, the company said.
The new menu items and possibilities are a far cry from Taco Bell’s first restaurants, which only offered five items on the original menu.
“Our fans inspire us to push boundaries, break the rules, and explore the limitless potential of flavor,” said Taco Bell’s chief food innovation officer, Liz Matthews, during the event.
Taco Bell isn’t just expanding its menu – its restaurants are expanding as well. The company says it aims to triple its international store count by 2030.
