FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — One person was arrested following an incident Tuesday at a Northeast School Corporation Elementary School.
According to NESC Chief of Police Matthew Price, On Tuesday, January 28, around 11:40 a.m., a parent allegedly entered the foyer of Northeast East Elementary School in Hymera with a personal firearm.
According to Price, a School Resource Officer (SRO) observed indicators of a possible weapon and acted quickly, and the man was detained.
NESC Police believes that no students or staff were in danger.
According to Price, 41-year-old Jerry Wilson of Shelburn was arrested. He’s preliminarily charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm on School Property – Level 6 felony
- Reckless Driving
- Passing a Stopped School Bus with a Stop Arm Activated
Parents were notified by the corporation of the incident through the school portal. NESC PD is continuing the investigation.
