TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Officials with the Vigo County School Corporation say Terre Haute North High School has resumed normal operations after a firearm ammunition clip was found at the school.
According to a statement from the VCSC, on the morning of Friday, January 31, a firearm ammunition clip was found in a student bathroom at Terre Haute North High School.
An immediate response was made by the VCSC Safety and Security Department, Terre Haute Police Department and school officials.
“Upon inspection and after reviewing security footage, all individuals who visited the bathroom were identified; students were questioned and searched, along with their belongings and lockers,” according to the statement.
The Terre Haute Police Department assisted in the investigation with detectives and K9 units. Students and staff remained in classrooms while K9 and officers worked to check for any additional items and clear the building.
“With confidence, investigators have concluded there is no immediate threat to the school, students or staff and the school has resumed normal operations. As a precaution, additional security staff will remain on campus for the remainder of the school day and after school events tonight,” according to the statement.
