TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Tuesday night, the Terre Haute Fire Department (THFD) responded to a residential structure fire, leading to the Red Cross deploying for 1 person and their dog.
According to THFD Public Information Officer, Captain Nick Arnold, the fire department was dispatched to 3117 N 22nd St. around 10 p.m. Tuesday for a fire in the kitchen of the home.
Upon arrival, smoke was showing from the exterior of the home. Arnold said that crews made a quick attack and controlled the flames within minutes.
However, the damage to the kitchen area was severe enough that the resident wasn’t able to stay in the home after the fire. Red Cross was deployed to help support the resident and their dog during this time. Both the resident and animal received no injuries during the fire.
THFD’s investigation concluded that the fire was ruled an accidental electrical fire.
