GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Ivy Tech Community College, collaborating with North Putnam High School, will now offer a unique pathway program that allows students to earn an associate of general studies degree before completing high school, at no cost to them.
“We’ve worked closely with Ivy Tech to create a pathway that enables students to complete their associate degree before they even walk across the stage at their high school graduation,” said Dustin LeMay, superintendent of North Putnam Community Schools. “This partnership with Ivy Tech provides a truly unique opportunity for our students.”
The program is available for students enrolled in 30 credit hours of courses that align with the Indiana College Core (ICC). ICC is college-level coursework that helps students seamlessly transfer across all Indiana public colleges and universities.
Students must complete 30 additional credit hours beyond the ICC to earn an associate degree from Ivy Tech. All courses that are a part of the associates degree pathway are offered at North Putnam and count as both high school and Ivy Tech credit.
“We’re grateful to work with North Putnam High School’s leadership to offer this incredible opportunity,” said Tammy Keenan, site director at Ivy Tech Greencastle. “Dual credit and dual enrollment programs at Ivy Tech provide high school students with a head start in their education while saving money. Students can continue their education or enter the workforce right after graduation. This is an opportunity no student should miss.”
