CLAY CITY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Grandmas is a non-profit ministry that uses breakfast to bring in donations.
The downtown building is staffed with volunteers that cook, serve, and chat with guests over breakfast on Friday and Saturday mornings.
The ministry then takes the money and finds a person, family, or organization in the local community that could use it.
One volunteer, Cheryl Sutton, says she joined because she felt a calling to serve and there is no better feeling then seeing all the ways that Grandmas has helped people in need.
“Whenever we had a couple that lost their home, they paid for a hotel room for a few days”, Sutton said. “We have built a ramp, on a house, for an elderly lady who was handicapped and needed access like that. Different pantries. Just different individuals and organizations they will donate to. It’s just a need basis. They try to find something every month to donate to.”
Grandmas Ministry is located on Main Street in Clay City. They are open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
