KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It’s been over a year since the Knox County Sheriff’s Department has been looking for Jared McColloch.
He’s been missing since November 2023, when the truck he’d been driving was found abandoned near the area where the Wabash and White Rivers converge.
Detective Cameron Carr says the truck belonged to Tammie Reppond, but she says her son Jared had been driving it, as he lives in Louisiana.
“Jared McColloch was not around the truck and could not be located”, Carr said. “Fast forward, we started a missing persons investigation.”
The sheriff’s department immediately reached out to many other organizations for assistance.
“We have used every resource that we have here at the sheriff’s department, as well as have worked with multiple other agencies in the search for Jared”, Carr said. “The river has been searched with multiple K-9 units that are nationally recognized. We’ve had boats, DNR has been involved and conducted several searches. We’ve used drones and had ground penetrating radar to look for any evidence that could lead us to Jared McColloch.”
Despite the prompt use of resources, a search lasting this long comes with many difficulties.
“As time passes, memory fades”, Carr said. “It’s the small details in cases like this that really make a difference. If someone saw him, or saw his truck somewhere, and now they’ve forgotten. We lose that information.”
The sheriff’s department was able to piece together Jared’s route through Illinois, through gas station stops, but they ask for any local assistance as the search continues.
“It is an ongoing investigation”, Carr said. “We are working this case daily. New information comes in every day with the help of the public. The public is our greatest asset in cases like this. We do ask the public that if they have an information, big or small, to please contact the sheriff’s office directly.”
If you do have any information regarding Jared, you can contact the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at 812-882-7660. You can call at any time of day and leave a message if it is outside of office hours.
