TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — On Monday, January 20, President Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of more than 1,500 people convicted in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol building.
While a complete list of people pardoned has not been released yet, it will likely include several Indiana residents. As well as some from the Wabash Valley.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed with WTWO/WAWV that Shane Jenkins, of Texas, has been released from the FCI Terre Haute, on Monday. According to the Associated Press, Jenkins was sentenced to seven years after he smashed a capitol window with a metal tomahawk.
The pardons are just one of many executive actions President Trump took Monday after his inauguration.
