TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — According to Sgt. Justin Sears of the Terre Haute Police Department, “on two occasions in December of 2024, the 15th and 19th, THPD Uniformed Officers responded to reports of burglaries at Wabash Valley Armory, located at 2249 S 7th St. in both incidents, a vehicle was used to breach security measures, allowing entry into the business.”
Sears pointed out that the burglaries involved the theft of firearms, prompting an immediate response from THPD Detectives, who partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to investigate.
The ATF offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to those responsible and the recovery of stolen firearms.
“Through countless hours of investigative efforts and multiple tips from our community, two juvenile males have been taken into custody in connection with these crimes,” Sears said.
Sears added that through the investigation, officers were able to connect a third case to this investigation.
“On November 7th, Rural King, located at 3235 Wabash Ave, was forcibly entered. Fortunately, during this incident, the suspects were unable to steal any firearms,” Sears said.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking that anyone with additional information to contact Detective Cody Tidd at 812-244-2638.
