INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Two members of the 86th class of the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy will soon be servicing the Wabash Valley.
The ISP graduation ceremony took place in the Indiana State Capitol Rotunda where at the end the new troopers were presented with their new badge and official identification. The graduation marks the completion of a 22-week training course that totaled more than 1,100 hours. Some of the subjects covered in the training include criminal and traffic law, de-escalation, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, impaired driving detection, and training in different specific scenarios.
The two new officers in the Wabash Valley are Brandon Bonebrake from Spencer, Indiana now serving in the Putnamville district, and Logan McDowell from Springville, Indiana serving in the Bloomington district. Each trooper who graduated gets assigned to one of 14 state police posts throughout Indiana. After the trooper arrives in their district, the troopers will spend the following three months working with seasoned Field Training Officers. Once their field training is complete they will be assigned a patrol vehicle and begin solo patrols.
