TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local organization is offering people in need a place to take shelter from the extreme cold.
Reach Services’ Pathways is located at 504 South 15th Street in Terre Haute. It will be open as a warming center 24/7 until 4 p.m. Thursday, January 9. The organization uses Pathways as a warming center when the temperature feels like zero degrees or below.
Meals will be served and showers will be available. Charity Mouck, Director of Housing at Reach Services and Manager of Pathways, said if someone has a pet with them, the center also has pet food and crates available.
“Last year when we were open for the warming center, we would have upwards of 65 people sleeping in this facility, plus up to ten dogs, cats,” said Mouck. “We definitely have the space and we have a place to keep people safe and warm.”
Anyone interested in donating or volunteering at the warming center can call 812-244-1357.
