TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With Vigo County Schools and some surrounding schools are out Tuesday due to the snowy weather.
Several families braced the cold, grabbed their snowboards, and went to Deming Park to sled. Laughter and screams of excitement could be heard throughout the park, as kids raced down the hill together. Even though most students had e-learning school work to do, students say their teachers encouraged them to go outside and have fun.
“When it snows we’re outside all day and it’s just a good opportunity to hang out with each other more,” Grayson Hill said.
“We’ve had great times hanging out with friends and family, you know sledding. We haven’t hit this hill yet, but I think that’s what we’re planning on doing today,” Harrison Wetzel said.
“Ten out of ten must try again,” Jamai Anderson said.
“Kind of like a family tradition we come here or we go to somewhere else, but I think this is the best spot in Terre Haute. You’re never too old to go sledding,” Austin Heineman said.
Vigo County Schools will be on a two-hour delay Wednesday, January 8.
