INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Indiana governor Eric Holcomb has activated the Indiana National Guard, in response to the powerful winter storm blowing through the region.
According to our NBC affiliate, WTHR in Indianapolis, National Guard troops will provide support to state and local responders, including with helping stranded motorists and to support other types of weather emergencies.
122 guardsmen will work across seven Hoosier armories in Bedford, Edinburgh, Evansville, Indianapolis, New Albany, Shelbyville and Washington.
“Indiana National Guard soldiers and airman are always ready and always there to assist Hoosiers when called,” said Master Sgt. Jeff Lowry, with the Indiana National Guard Public Affairs Office.
National Guard troops will be activated, at least, through January 7.
