EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — One man was transported by helicopter to Carle Hospital in Champaign Friday morning.
According to the Edgar County Sherriff’s Office, on January 3rd, at approximately 9:36 a.m., deputies were dispatched to 23499 East 1575th road for a trespassing complaint.
Upon arrival, deputies attempted to make contact at the location and were met by a male subject in possession of a rifle.
An armed confrontation occurred between the subject and the deputies.
A deputy charged their fireman, ultimately striking the subject.
Edgar County Sherriff’s Office confirms that no deputies were injured during the confrontation.
Lifesaving measures were given to the subject, and he was transported by helicopter to Carle Hospital in Champaign and is receiving treatment.
The incident has been referred to the Illinois State Police and they will be handling the investigation.
