BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A woman was arrested with a level-five felony after a shot went off at a Brazil gas station.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call about a possible domestic dispute at the Petro gas station located at the intersection of State Road 42 and 59. When the deputy arrived on scene he discovered a male subject holding a firearm in the air. According to the release the deputy then secured the firearm from the subject and called in the Clay County Detectives.
The release states that during the investigation, it was discovered that a woman identified as 45-year-old Crystal Colbert of Fair View Heights, Illinois, and the male subject had been arguing in a parked semi at the gas station. Deputies state that during the course of the argument Colbert had pulled a gun from her pocket and began to wave it around. The release stated that the male subject pushed the gun away fearing that it might go off. In doing so the firearm did discharge and go through the male subject’s pant leg grazing his leg.
The male was treated at the scene and released with non-life-threatening injuries. Colbert was arrested and taken to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and charged with a level-five felony of criminal recklessness with a firearm. She is currently being held in the Clay County Jail.
