BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The man who was arrested in the middle of October for attacking a woman with a hatchet has a jury trial coming soon.
According to court documents, Michael Sheppard has his jury trial scheduled for February 10th, 2025 for the charges of attempted murder, resisting law enforcement, and intimidation. This all after Sheppard attacked a woman wearing a wolf mask and wielding a hatchet.
According to the PCA, a Brazil woman attempted to get a protective order against 34-year-old Michael Sheppard on October 11 — two weeks after the pair were involved in a physical altercation. After the hearing, Sheppard left the courthouse and returned to the woman’s home. When she arrived he attacked her with a hatchet outside the home, the affidavit states. Then, while wearing a wolf mask, he entered the home, fought with her mother, and attempted to make contact with a child inside the home.
The woman was able to get the child out of harm’s way and when police arrived they tended to the victim and began to arrest Sheppard who had attempted to take his own life asking the officers to kill him. Sheppard was taken into custody and treated at a hospital in Indianapolis. He is still being held in the Clay County Jail.
