LYNNVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A 28-year-old man from Missouri was arrested by Indiana State Police after shots were fired at a gas station.
According to a news release from ISP, shortly after noon, area police responded to a Casey’s Gas Station located at 107 IN-68 in Lynnville. The release states that a woman was shot at and the preliminary investigation showed that 28-year-old Eli B. Gunden of Missouri drove up to the woman in a Toyota SUV and made an unsolicited comment to the woman inside her car. The release says that when she didn’t hear the comment Gunden allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired two rounds into her car. The woman wasn’t injured and Gunden fled the scene after.
The release stated that after some time Dubois County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect’s vehicle on I-64 and Gunden fled causing a pursuit. After chasing Gunden south on US 231, to State Road 62, and then back north on US 231 Gunden pulled over but refused to exit the vehicle.
The release stated that this caused a two-hour standoff between Gunden and multiple agencies from Dubois County, Spencer County, and ISP. Gunden then exited the vehicle without any incidents before being taken to Spencer County Jail where he is currently being held without bond. He is currently being charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement.
