TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Early Saturday afternoon, Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church held their annual Christmas Toy Extravaganza.
This is the fourth year for the local event.
Just before the Christmas holiday, the church invites families to eat, receive gifts, and enjoy the season as a group.
The extravaganza took place at the Forsythe Community Center, which was decorated with Christmas lights and inflatables, as well as a bounce house for the kids to enjoy.
Each guest at the event was given a toy, along with some winter necessities such as hats and gloves.
The first lady for the church, Asira Evans, says this year’s theme was love and they’re hoping to spread more of it into the local community.
“The motive behind it is to serve our community, be servants in the community, and be a recognized presence in the community”, Evans said. “To bring about how it used to be with unity, love, and friendship. To bring joy to each and everyone.”
Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church says they hope to continue to grow this event, and they are accepting donations for toys and winter clothes.
