CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Two brothers from Clinton are being remembered for their contributions to STEM education.
South Vermillion High School held a ceremony Tuesday to name and dedicate the Giacoletto Innovation Lab for Cybersecurity and Computer Science.
The classroom is named in memory of John and Lawrence Giacoletto. The Giacoletto Foundation was formed in 2007 to fulfill the brothers’ wishes.
The foundation has provided financial contributions to support education, including STEM programming at South Vermillion schools.
The naming and dedication of the classroom is a way to honor the brothers for their commitment to education. School leaders say the brothers’ successes will also inspire students.
“They were just students at Clinton High School just like the kids are today students at South Vermillion High School. They had dreams. They had visions of what they wanted to do in life. As that came to fruition, what they were able to do was give back to the community that gave them so much when they were growing up,” said Dave Chapman, Superintendent of the South Vermillion Community School Corporation.
The brothers, born and raised in Clinton, graduated from Clinton High School. They both earned electrical engineering degrees from Rose Polytechnic Institute, known today as Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
