CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Sunday morning in Vermillion County, over 100 kids got to go shopping at Walmart with local law enforcement.
This is part of the annual Shop with a Cop event that has been a tradition at the Parke and Vermillion County police departments for over a decade. This year the departments hung out with the kids and bought clothes and a toy of their choice.
Vice President of the Parke-Vermillion Order of Police Nick Hall said that there is no better feeling than giving these kids the Christmas they deserve.
“Usually if they don’t get to work with our officers, the kids have a negative impact with police,” said Hall. “To see them work one-on-one with an officer is a positive aspect is all the joy we need. It is a win-win for the police, it’s a win-win for the kids, and it builds a lifelong friendship.”
The funds used were donations that were collected throughout the year.
