TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – CANDLES and the United Hebrew Congregation of Terre Haute thought that Sunday was a great time to do something to remind people of the significance of Hanukkah traditions.
United Hebrew Congregation President Scott Skillman said along with the Hanukkah celebrations they are celebrating 175 years of being in Terre Haute.
“We have been involved at all levels in the Terre Haute community, and we are happy to be here and do that,” said Skillman. “We are also happy to have the community come back and spend this time with us during this celebration.”
Skillman said that no matter what you believe in, it is important to be happy and spread joy during this time of the year.
“Although, today we were focused on the Hanukkah tradition, our Rabbi that spoke today talked about how it is important for others to recognize that it is a holiday season,” said Skillman. “It’s Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy Hanukkah all rolled into one. No expression is better than the other and it is all about sharing the joy of the holidays with our community.”
