CASEY, Ill. (WTWO-WAWV)– Residents in Casey are without water after a water line break in the city. Casey’s Secretary of Utilities Natasha Hickox, said it is unknown what caused the break, and she is encouraging residents to buy bottled water until the problem is resolved.
The incident occurred late afternoon Friday, at 203 East Adams Street.
The following messages were posted to the City of Casey’s Facebook page:
Our City Workers are currently working on a large water leak around 203 E Adams Street. Water may be discolored and have low pressure. As of now no boil order has been issued. We will update as we know more.
Update: 4:34 pm. We have to shut off water to most of the SE part of town. We are losing too much water and need to maintain the water level in our water tower. We will update when we know more.
Update: 7:00 pm. The water tower has continued to drain too quickly. ALL water in town will need to be shut off within the next 15 minutes so it doesn’t drain completely while the city workers deal with the issue. Thank you for your patience during this extraordinary event.
Hickox says once the leak is fixed, a boil order will be in place.
