TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local funeral home is making an effort to fill stockings for kids in need this holiday season.
For the past three years, Fitzpatrick Funeral Home has held its Stocking for Kids program. The program helps kids and families in need have a stocking stuffed with presents for Christmas.
Co-owner Jeff Edmondson said, last year they gave out over 120 stockings and look to increase that number this year.
The stockings will be filled with donations from the community. Donations will be accepted till the end of this week and the funeral home hopes to distribute the stockings by the beginning of next week.
“The stockings ideas that we have, have been mittens, stocking caps, gloves, candy for the kids, coloring books, crayons, things of that nature. Any small item that we can put in a stocking just to help make a kids Christmas a little bit brighter,” said Edmondson.
For those interested and want to get involved, can either bring a filled stocking or items to fill a stocking with to the Fitzpatrick Funeral Home at 220 North 3rd in West Terre Haute. The funeral home will also be accepting monetary donations.
