TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A two-car crash occurred Tuesday evening that led to an elderly woman being taken to the hospital.
According to Chief Deputy Steve Meng of the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, a wreck occurred around 2:27 p.m. at the intersection of South Carlisle Street and East Harlan Drive. Meng stated that the early investigation led them to believe that a Dodge Caravan was headed west on East Harlan Drive and came to a stop at the four-way stop at the Carlisle intersection. At the same time, a Ford F-150 was headed north on South Carlisle Street before coming to a stop at the same set of stop signs.
Meng said that both vehicles were allegedly waiting on a flatbed semi to make a left turn at the intersection. Once the semi cleared the intersection, however, both vehicles went through. The Dodge Caravan made contact, striking the passenger side of the F-150 in the middle of the intersection.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage and had to have a tow truck remove them from the scene of the incident. One elderly passenger from the Caravan had to be taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
