SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Christmas songs could be heard ringing from multiple locations across Sullivan County on Friday.
Over the past few years 5th grade students at Dugger Union Elementary have taken a Friday in December to go Christmas caroling. Music teacher Tyler Nichols said that he hopes these students understand the impact small actions like this can have.
“It is great for them to get out and see all the elderly out here, and some of these people may not have a lot of visitors,” said Nichols. “We explain that to them and they really looked forward to coming out and spreading some Christmas cheer this year.”
Nichols said that this is something that has become a big part of his Christmas tradition and hopes all of the students remember and cherish this memory.
“I have always been a huge Christmas person and it really important to me, so this has become one of my traditions personally, not just at work, and I look forward to it every year,” said Nichols.
These students also got to enjoy lunch at Joe’s Italian Foods in Sullivan for their efforts.
