VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — 8th District Congressman-elect Mark Messmer visited the Clear Creek Welcome Center, off of I-70 in Vigo County, that is currently being redeveloped.
Messmer was invited by the owners of Hanning Construction, the general contractor on the project, to see the progress being made on the center.
The welcome center will be a state-of-the-art facility that will provide drivers with a space to pull over and park. Messmer says the center is a much-needed investment by that state.
“What’s needed more than anything, with the high activity of e-commerce, trucking, and logistics in central Indiana, is a much-needed space for trucks to get off the interstate, adding several hundred slots for truck capacity to park and get those folks off the exit ramps and medians thought central Indiana. It’s long overdue and a great investment by the state,” said Messmer.
Messmer added that the project will hopefully be done by the spring of 2025.
