MONTEZUMA, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents (IAPSS) announced Dr. Philip Harrison, the superintendent of Southwest Parke Community School Corporation, was named IAPSS 2025 District IV Superintendent of the Year.
Southwest Parke Community School Corporation is just one of many in District IV. District IV contains school corporations in Benton, Clay, Fountain, Greene, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Park, Putnam, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo, and Warren County.
Dr. Harrison has been running things in the Southwest Parke Community School Corporation for just over eight years. Dr. Harrison has over 20 years of educational leadership experience and was a large part of the district’s mission to provide a “rigorous and inclusive” curriculum for the diverse needs of the 986 students the corporation serves. Under Dr. Harrison, the school has received state recognition, particularly with its special education and agriculture programs.
Dr. Harrison obtained his Doctorate in Philosophy of Educational Leadership, a Master of Arts in Music Theory, and a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Music Education from ISU. Some of his previous educational leadership experiences include being Superintendent of Jamaica/Salt Fork CUSD 512 in Catlin, IL, Principal and Assistant Principal at South Vermillion High School, and Clinical Faculty Supervisor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
“Dr. Harrison’s leadership and vision have been pivotal in fostering partnerships that benefit both students and the community,” said a representative from IAPSS District IV. “His ability to build relationships with local organizations and higher education institutions has brought valuable resources and opportunities to the district, significantly enhancing the educational experience for all students.”
