TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Members of the Terre Haute Police Department (THPD) were involved in a police chase Monday afternoon that ended in an arrest.
According to Sargeant Justin Sears with THPD, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around the intersection of South 14th Street and Hulman Street after noticing multiple traffic violations from the driver. According to Sears, the driver stopped their vehicle for a short moment before speeding off after the officers began their approach initiating the pursuit. Sears said that during the pursuit a possible identity of the suspect was found and he was believed to have felony arrest warrants out for them in another county.
Once the chase made it onto the interstate however, speeds were deemed unsafe for the conditions of the road the THPD terminated the pursuit. The Indiana State Police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were able to intercept the driver shortly after and take the driver into custody. WTWO has reached out to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office for further information and will update the story if more information becomes available.
