BRIDGETON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Now that Thanksgiving has passed, many are turning their sights to the winter holidays.
That is the case in Bridgeton as this weekend kicked off their Country Christmas Festival.
The town of Bridgeton is best known for the Covered Bridge Festival, bringing around two million people to the area in mid-October.
Storm Ryan, a vendor at the Christmas festival, says the difference in the two is the local shops.
“It’s more the old time feeling. It’s not all commercial. Its stuff made by local artisans.”
The festival takes place over two weekends with handmade crafts, original artwork, and unique items from local history.
“You want to walk back in time? Come to this festival. You can go through and see how your great-grandparents made flour at the mill. You can get the pancake mix, you can get the cornbread mix, and you can take it home and make it yourself. It will be just like your grandma made. It’s kind of like a snapshot into yester-year.”
The best part: there is no cost to attend.
“It’s free to get here, it’s free parking, and it’s free to get in all the buildings. Who doesn’t like to do stuff for free.”
Bridgeton Country Christmas will continue Sunday, then will be open again next weekend from December 6th through the 8th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
