TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A fifth grade class at Terre Town Elementary School is making a difference in the community.
Amy Bennett’s class is donating almost $400 to Veteran’s Village. The students raised that money during a fundraiser by selling crafts such as bracelets.
The students voted on an organization to donate the money to and decided on Veteran’s Village, an effort to build six tiny homes in Terre Haute that will help veterans in need.
Student Zoee Nelson said she knew of Veteran’s Village because her grandmother and a family friend have been involved in the project.
“I just love visiting the Veteran’s Village place and it’s just really, really helpful, and I love Veterans Day,” she said.
She added that it took them just two days to raise the money. The class held a pizza party on Tuesday to celebrate the success of their fundraiser.
