SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Baesler’s Market owner Bob Baesler is hoping to grow the spirit of giving in Sullivan County with a donation match of the Salvation Army Red Kettles over the next three days.
He is matching all donations up to $1,000 at the Sullivan location from November 25-27. Chairman of the Sullivan County Salvation Army Advisory Council Michele Smith said incentives like this bring out the best in people.
“When you have the support of someone like Mr. Baesler and his stores, it really does make an impact because everyone in town knows about his generosity, and everybody wants to be a part of the excitement of helping us meet our goals,” said Smith.
Smith said that these Red Kettle donations are always their biggest annual fundraiser with all of the funds contributing programs such as their Coats for Kids and back to school events. She said they have to rely on the community’s generosity, and they have never been let down.
“The community here has been very supportive of our efforts for many years, and we really appreciate the fact that every year they continue to reach out to us not only during kettle season, but all through the year with their donations and their support,” said Smith. “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our community.”
If you want to help, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities to ring the bell through Christmas Eve. For more information on how to sign up you can call 812-699-5730.
