ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Billie Creek Village will be dressed to impress with lights, wreaths, and Christmas trees for an upcoming special event.
This historical site will be hosting its Christmas at the Village event. The event will take place from November 29 until December 23rd, in Rockville (65 Billie Creek Road). Village buildings will be open each evening from 4-8 p.m. to experience beautiful holiday displays, shop vendors, and visit with Santa. Santa will be at the village each Friday in the Governor’s House.
Site manager Michelle Mundo said this event helps the village.
“Billie Creek is a collection of 32 historic building, all of which were brought here to Billie Creek site from Parke County. So, this is not just a cool collection of unique buildings. This is county history, and by visiting and making a purchase in either the cafe or the general store you are supporting the restoration of these buildings that are over 100-years-old now,” Mundo said.
Billie Creek Village will also be hosting a soft opening for their new cafe on November 29. Gaebler Cafe will be open Wednesdays through Sundays, during the Christmas at the Village event. The cafe will have coffee, several different homemade goodies, and soup.
Culinary Director Samantha Brucken said opening a cafe has been a dream of hers.
“I’ve been baking for years. I started baking with my great grandmother when I was really little and it’s a thing that I have always been passionate about. I love taking care of people feeding people is a big part of that,” Brucken said.
Gaebler Cafe plans to be open again in March. For more information about the Christmas at the Village event or the cafe, you can visit Billie Creek Village’s website.
