WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Ahead of Thanksgiving, a local elementary school is learning about the colonial times.
Sugar Creek Consolidated held its annual Colonial Day event on Friday.
Students learned about the history, what daily life was like back then, as well as Native American culture.
The event featured various activities and craft-making.
“The kids don’t always get all these experiences. They don’t get to go out into the community sometimes for Pioneer Days and things like that, so it’s nice to just make sure the kids are having fun hands-on experiences and learning along the way,” said Jennifer Price, a 5th Grade Teacher.
The event was funded by a grant from the Vigo County Education Foundation.
