CARLISLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A jury trial for Rachelle Lynn McCarter Kitchell that was scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to February 25, 2025.
The trial for Kitchell was delayed due to a motion of continuance that was granted by the judge in an effort to give more time for the lawyers to prepare their cases.
According to court documents, Kitchell was arrested at the end of July after she allegedly abused several children for nearly two years before being turned in by the grandmother of the children. Kitchell, according to court documents, allegedly ripped off toenails, intentionally burned the children, and even used remote-controlled shock collars. Kitchell is currently being charged with three counts of domestic battery with serious bodily injury to an individual under 14 which is a level three felony, three counts of neglect of a dependant resulting in serious bodily injury which is a level three felony, and three counts of domestic battery with bodily injury which is a level five felony.
The husband of Kitchell, Jeremy E. Kitchell, is also awaiting a jury trial date originally planned for November 12, 2024, that has been moved to April 8, 2025. According to court documents, Jeremy Kitchell faces three counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury, a level five felony.
