TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana State Police reminds drivers to make sure their vehicles are ready for the winter season.
Sergeant Matt Ames with ISP’s Putnamville Post said drivers should make sure their vehicle has good tires, good wiper blades and a good-working battery. Also, make sure the vehicle’s fluids are full.
Sgt. Ames added there is one thing drivers should be sure of before traveling.
“The most important thing is make sure that your gas tank never gets below a half a tank before you get ready to go out and travel. There’s two reasons for that. Number one, your fuel pump is going to run better that way and you don’t have to be concerned in case you get stuck in traffic for a while and be concerned about running out of gas,” said Sgt. Ames.
He also said drivers should keep emergency items in their vehicles, such as a blanket, an extra jacket, gloves and hat, as well as food, water and a cell phone charger.
