TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— A single-car accident occurred on an exit ramp on Interstate 70 at around 7:18 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to Indiana State Police (ISP) Sargeant Matt Ames, a car was traveling westbound on the exit ramp off of Interstate 70 on to State Road 46. ISP noted that the driver, 28-year-old Leslie Smith of Greenwood, was traveling at a high rate of speed given the condition of the road. As Smith approached the curve on the exit she lost control of the car.
According to Sgt. Ames, Smith’s car continued westbound off the road and came to a stop in an embankment. He noted the only injury reported by Smith was complaints of pain.
“The Indiana State Police encourage all motorists to make sure that you reduce your speed when you exit Interstate 70 in this area and to make sure that you’re always buckled up and not driving distracted,” stated Sgt. Ames.
