TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Wednesday night, nursing students at Ivy Tech in Terre Haute got the chance to talk with local health care providers at the school’s Nursing Network Banquet.
The event is aimed to connect graduating Ivy Tech nursing students with local employers.
It provides an opportunity for students to practice their professional networking skills and build relationships in a realistic environment.
The night also included a dinner and guest speaker Margie Clouse, who is a Forensic Program Manager for IU Health.
The Dean of Ivy Tech’s School of Nursing, Kim Cooper, says these events are a part of a school-wide push to help their graduates transition into the workforce.
“I believe this evening is one of the efforts that Ivy Tech Community College is doing in our goal to fit graduates into the workforce. We all know from the media, we know from what we are reading, that there is a nursing shortage. It feels really good to know that in December, just about 30 days from now, we are going to have about 30 qualified applicants for positions in healthcare, throughout the Wabash Valley.”
