TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun has been appointed a position on the Board of Directors for the Association of Indiana Municipalities (AIM).
The youngest mayor in Terre Haute history has now been appointed as one of the members of the Board of Directors for AIM. AIM is a nonprofit that supports local government officials, promotes effective public policies, and advocates for cities and towns across Indiana. AIM’s Statement of Purpose from their website states that their goal is “To foster, promote and advocate for the success of Hoosier municipalities as laboratories of innovation, hubs of talent and the engines driving our state’s economy.” In a press release, it says Sakbun was chosen for the position because of his leadership with a focus on economic development, growth, and quality of life improvements in Terre Haute as well as his commitment to advancing the interests of other municipalities across Indiana.
This new position will give the mayor the chance to collaborate with other community leaders, share practices, and learn the challenges of other areas while advocating for policies that help Indiana communities.
“This appointment allows me to engage with fellow leaders across Indiana in a bipartisan way, working together to address the shared challenges and opportunities our municipalities face,” said Mayor Sakbun. “While my work as Mayor of Terre Haute remains my top priority, this role will provide invaluable insights and foster connections that can help me better serve our city while contributing to the growth and development of our entire state.”
