TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Terre Haute held a build day Saturday morning.
The organization builds beds for children that don’t currently have one.
61 volunteers from the Maryland Church Student Ministry, along with adult leaders, came together to build beds from scratch.
The work area was split into different sections, allowing for around 40 beds to be built in just a few hours.
All beds made by the Terre Haute Chapter will be given to children in the local community.
The President of the Terre Haute Chapter says they had so many volunteers Saturday, they had to cut the list down, and they plan on continuing this momentum with more build days to come.
“We will be doing this every other month or so, delivering beds as often as we can. We will have different delivery teams go to people’s houses and build the beds in place, put the new mattress in, blankets and pillows and walk away with smiles.”
