LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After being displayed on the walls of Shields Hardware Store in Linton for decades, the Veterans Hall of Honor represents hundreds of veterans who served this country.
These photos are now temporarily located at the Glenburg Senior Living Community Center. Linton mayor and veteran John Preble said he wants the current generation to understand the sacrifices that were made to get this country where it is today.
“I think that is what I want to bring out here is that many of these people the younger generation may know some of these people and recognize that they served, what they did to serve, and what they were called to do when they served,” said Preble. “I think it is important that our generation understands that.”
Preble said that this country is free because of these veterans, and he wants that to be displayed and honored for the rest of time.
“Just to make them aware of how we got to where we are at and how our freedoms are precious based upon those who served in uniform,” said Preble
There will be an open house at this location on Veteran’s Day from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
