TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It is that time of year again and with the leaves falling, the city will be coming to pick up leaves.
Residents are being asked to rake their leaves and put them in the area between the sidewalk and the road.
The city has designated dates for each area of the city, starting November 12th.
Each zone will get two passes with the leaf vacuum truck.
Those second dates will be announced in December.
The city says, not only does the collection of these leaves make the city look better, but leaves can cause problems if they build up.
“We do have a lot of street parking here in Terre Haute. With the number of trees we have and the amount of leafage that ends up on the ground, it can be in the way of people getting to their vehicles. It will end up in the streets, end up in our storm sewers. Just a way to help our storm sewers do their job.”
