FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Veterans Day is an annual U.S. federal holiday observed November 11 to honor military veterans.
While many businesses remain open on Veterans Day to honor the men and women who have served by offering deals and freebies some services will be interrupted.
United States Post Office
According to a release, United States Post Offices will be closed on November 11 in Observance of Veterans Day 2024. There will be no mail delivery, caller service, or Post Office Box service. All USPS services will resume on Tuesday, November 12.
Federal Banks
Federal banks and their branches will be closed for the federal holiday. Bank ATMs and digital banking features are typically still in service.
Federal offices
Federal offices are closed in observance of federal holidays, including Veterans Day.
City/County Offices
City and County offices are typically closed on federal holidays. The city of Terre Haute announced in a newsletter that city offices will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
Schools
Most schools throughout the Wabash Valley remain open on Veterans Day. Several schools hold programs to honor Veterans during the school day. Check with your school district to confirm classes are in session.
Trash Service
Check with your trash service provider. In some areas, trash pickup continues on the holiday while in other locations trash day is postponed in observance of Veterans Day.
